Covid-19 and Hair Salons

According to a CNN article by Faith Karimi, two Missouri hairstylists potentially exposed 140 clients. These stylists worked while symptomatic. The clients and stylists wore face coverings. The best safety measure is to avoid the salon and stay home, or seek care, if you have fever or symptoms. Be sure to get tested!

Some of the guidelines for Louisiana Barbershops and Hair Salons include:

  • Consider making appointments to avoid overcrowding
  • Staggering work schedules; staff with fever or symptoms not allowed to work until resolved
  • Wash hands for 20 seconds before and after each client
  • Clean and disinfect all implements and surfaces
  • Clients and staff encourage to wear a face mask
  • Cosmetology salons guidlelines require screening upon entry
  • Customers may have to wait outside to observe social distancing

The above are some of the measures to help keep you safe during this pandemic. You must not have fever or other symptoms consistent with COVID-19 within the past 72 hours, and must not have been in contact with any individual with fever or symptoms within the past 14 days. Other symptoms include cough, shortness of breath, headache and fatigue. Always remember that your health is of upmost importance!

Let's stay safe and we hope to see you soon!
